Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice is a very important solar term in Chinese lunar calendar and a traditional festival of the Chinese nation. The time is from December 21st to 23th in a year of the Gregorian calendar. This day is the shortest daytime and the longest day of the night in northern hemisphere.
In China, it is the custom for most of us to eat dumplings in the north and sweet dumplings in the south. There is an old saying:” to eat dumplings when the winter solstice is coming.”
In China, every winter solstice, the family will get together to make dumplings, then eat hot dumplings with delicious sauce cheerfully. To celebrate the coming of winter, and pray next year goes well.
